The Light at the End of the Tunnel!
You know why I never post anymore? Because my manifestation (naming this blog what I wanted to be true) is working! I really don't think organizing is hard anymore. I still have some problem areas in my house, but I now know WHY they are problem areas, and how to fix them.
The most obvious example of this is my basement. I taped up signs all over the walls, which said what was going to be stored in each section. For example, there are signs that say "Biking Stuff" and "Art Supplies" and "Off-Season Clothes". My basement would be spotless except for the fact that we knew we would only be here a year or less, so we declined to invest in expensive shelving.
I have to say, once again, that I owe almost everything to Organizing from the Inside Out. With a little help from Byron Katie, David Allen, and my astrologer.
I now declare myself officially competent.

An Update
In September, we moved into a "4 House." This means that numerologically, it was a good house to move into in order to get organized in life. Interestingly, I most certainly did not choose this house for that reason. In fact I did not even choose this house. But, once we knew we'd be moving into it, and before we knew the address but had seen the inside, I said to everyone, "It will be a good house to get organized in." Finally!
I'm kind of depressed that this phase of my life seems almost solely devoted to "getting organized," but OTOH, how much longer could I have gone on without it? This seems to be a necessary step in the unfoldment of our lives. (Yes, that is a word.)

I've Finally Found the Answer!
And I blogged about it here.
I can't believe I forgot to post it on *this* blog before.
Since I've watched that video, I have had a New Consciousness. My house is even a fair amount more organized, and I haven't even been following Julie Mortgenstern's directions correctly.
One of these days, I'll go into detail about how things are changing.
And for the record, they'd be changing a lot faster if we weren't living in a house that we will probably have to move out of in 8 months. . .

The Secret to Joy
Yes, I just had to check in again and tell you, the secret to joy IS the storage unit at this point in my life. In fact, I'm thinking of renaming this blog "Storage Units are Awesome."
It'll be interesting next month when we move out of state and have to empty it back into our house. That will be the true test, of course.

My House is Getting Clean!
OMG, the more I pack up, the easier my life becomes. A recap: We got a storage unit a few months ago, and in a fit of desperation, I sent over about 1/3 of our posessions to it. Immediately the place felt tolerable!
Then, about a month ago we found out we are moving to Wisconsin in about six weeks. So I started packing up more. By this time, the storage unit is full, but I am packing boxes and stacking them along a wall. My little sister came over yesterday to help. And, of course, I am throwing out plenty of things, or donating them to the Free Pile* downstairs.
The more we get packed up, the easier it is to clean. By now, most of the toys are either packed or are way up high on my studio table, because they have been confiscated because my 2-yo was throwing them at the windows.
Just this morning I thought, "So THIS is how normal people feel!" Because really the only parts of the house that are really disorganized and crazy now are the office/kids-and-my-clothes room, and the hallway to the bathroom, which is also my studio. :)

Should I Just Hire a Housekeeper?
I keep fantasizing about hiring someone to come over here and clean the whole place. I have only hired this once in my life - a year ago when we were moving out of our single-family home. It was so dreamy, I couldn't believe I hadn't been doing it all along. But it seems so weird to hire a cleaner for my apartment. It seems to me that you are supposed to be able to keep apartments clean, because they are just so much less difficult to clean than houses.
In any case, the thought of picking up so a cleaner can come here is very daunting. But I have just hired a bellydancing instructor to come here for five Wednesday nights in a row, to teach a group of women. So I guess I'll have to pick it up anyway.
There is a stigma about hiring a housecleaner - especially when you're "staying home" with your kids. But you know what? I used to be a housecleaner, and if I had charged what I should have, it would have been an awesome job!
